Clad-surface iron armor for early‑Qing‑Dynasty officers. The officer wears warm hat (an iron helmet would be donned for combat) and cotton‑padded armor. Multiple layers of cotton fabric are compact‑pressed and blended with hemp and other materials to boost toughness, repeatedly soaked in water then sun‑dried, and then secured with rivets for defensive performance. This specially‑processed cotton‑iron armor reaches roughly 2 mm in thickness and can withstand fire‑weapon strikes from long range. Beneath it lies a chain‑mail inner cuirass, providing all‑round protection at the elbows and other vulnerable spots. Composed of padded outer armor, inner iron plates and chain‑mail, it is a three‑in‑one composite‑type suit of armor.
