Modeled after Ming military and court regulations, this set features overlapping lamellae of refined iron laced over a cowhide backing, adorned with "flying fish" and cloud motifs alongside gilded accents. The design incorporates a chest guard, arm guards, and a split-skirt tasset to facilitate both mounted and on-foot movement. The armor’s deep black hue contrasts strikingly with the white collar and gold embroidery, embodying the Jinyiwei’s dual nature: serving as the Emperor's personal guard while projecting a formidable, awe-inspiring presence in the field.
